Nonprofit EDs and CEOs are invited to hear Shireen Malekafzali (she/her), Chief Equity Officer at San Mateo County, present the equity framework and early equity efforts underway, and to give feedback on its alignment with your own equity frameworks. This is an opportunity to set the groundwork for nonprofit leaders to work together with the County on future efforts to advance equity.

Meet the Speaker

Shireen Malekafzali (she/her) is Chief Equity Officer at San Mateo County, focused on building more equitable county government structure, policies, practices, and procedures in order to support more equitable outcomes in communities of color, low-income communities, and other communities facing inequities. Shireen brings over 20 years of experience advancing equity through the non-profit, government and philanthropic sectors. Most recently, she served as Health Equity Officer for San Mateo County Health, and previously, Associate Director at PolicyLink, a national racial and economic equity institute. She currently serves as vice chair of the Office of Health Equity at CA Department of Public Health, as board chair of Human Impact Partners, and board chair of the Social Justice Committee at TransForm. Shireen has a passion for advancing a just democracy, eating Persian food, and snuggling with her two small kids.
