Coordinating Staff Roles in Disaster:
An Introduction to Incident Command System for Nonprofits

Wednesday, February 21, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, In-Person

It’s a sunny Tuesday afternoon. A local community center is distributing food in the parking lot, while volunteers provide childcare inside. Suddenly, the ground starts shaking and doesn't stop for a full minute. Would staff within your organization know what to do? How would they go about organizing first aid? How would they attend to clients outside and children inside?

Join this two-hour interactive, in-person workshop to learn about coordinating staff roles in disaster using four worst-case scenarios. Our facilitator, Heather Lee, from SF CARD, will provide a brief background on the Incident Command System (ICS), a framework that emergency workers use to efficiently organize and manage response efforts during disasters. We will then apply ICS principles to realistic scenarios involving nonprofits and community organizations.

As with all COAD trainings, this will be an opportunity to connect with other San Mateo County nonprofits that are active in emergency preparedness and response. This workshop is designed for nonprofits, but open to all.

Refreshments provided.

Location: CZI Community Space, 801 Jefferson Ave, Redwood City, CA 94063
