Candidate Forum: Board of Supervisors, 2nd District

Thrive, in partnership with other nonprofits, is hosting a series of candidate forums to elevate the most pressing issues of nonprofits and their communities in San Mateo County.

The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors oversees county departments, programs, and property, with an annual budget of over $3 billion. 

Featuring: Noelia Corzo, Charles Stone, and Cameron Rolfe.

Moderators: Dan Demers and Joanne Bohigian, Foster City Chamber of Commerce, Chamber Cares Initiative Co-Chairs.

Hosts: Thrive Alliance and Foster City Chamber of Commerce, Chamber Cares Initiative.

All districts have changed since the 2020 census report and the redistricting process that followed. District 2 includes the cities of San Mateo, Foster City, and most of Belmont (excluding the southeast portion). 

Note: If any candidate receives 50% plus one of the votes, the race will be decided in June.

Dan

Dan Demers, is a non-profit strategist, business manager, marketing and brand professional of over 15 years. He is a staunch supporter of arts education, enrichment and live performance all over the Bay Area. Dan's out- of-the-box thinking and raw creativity brings a unique

perspective to help organizations adapt and grow in modern times. An award winning creative in the Bay Area, Dan now brings his skills to the tech start-up world emboldening people and organizations globally using cutting edge software and technology. Dan continues to work with The Foster City Chamber of Commerce board to bring its pivotal support to all in the greater Foster City area.

Joanne

Joanne Bohigian is a business development, market planning and strategy professional with over 20 years leading for-profit and nonprofit organizations to develop and execute strategic plans for growth, foster and build strategic alliances, lead business and cultural change, promote

organization mission, vision and values. Joanne has a reputation for sound business acumen as well as creative go-to-market insight and effective management of initiatives in both start-up organizations and Fortune 500 companies as well as nonprofit and municipal entities.  Joanne brings proven ability to maximize the growth and profitability of an organization from her experiences serving such global companies as Microsoft, Gilead Sciences, SAP, IBM, and others.

Noelia Corzo has lived in District 2 for nearly her entire life and is deeply committed to the community. She is the product of local schools and obtained a Bachelor’s of Arts in Sociology from San Francisco State University before beginning a career where she served foster youth, worked  

as a community organizer in support of affordable housing and immigrant rights, and is currently supporting children and adults with developmental disabilities as a social worker for a non-profit organization in San Mateo County. She is the daughter of working class immigrants and has vast personal and professional experience with the many services our county offers.

Charles Stone, San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans) Director, City Councilmember, and two-time Belmont Mayor, is a proud native of San Mateo County and a graduate of Hillsdale High. As County Supervisor, Stone offers experienced, results-oriented leadership to protect the quality of life for residents of Belmont,

Foster City, and San Mateo during these dynamic times. Stone champions safe, vibrant, and transit-friendly communities for local families through his leadership on SamTrans, where he leads regional efforts to maintain clean air and reduce the impacts of climate change by promoting public transit and traffic management strategies. He is a passionate advocate for affordable workforce housing, public safety, and vibrant neighborhoods that are safe and family friendly.

Cameron  Rolfe, Cameron Rolfe for Supervisor

Cameron Rolfe has lived in San Mateo since before it had a ZIP code. He is civic minded, an Eagle Scout, a volunteer in the community, has a boaters’ license, pilot certificates, and was POST credentialed as a Level 2 reserve police officer. Rolfe is also a California Licensed Investigator, with 

a career of seeking facts and ferreting out misleading data and skewed information. As District 2's Supervisor, he will equitably represent all of his constituents with an extensive and objective career perspective of ‘just the facts’, making decisions based on those facts, not politics.
